I’m helping Microsoft test the new Windows Release Candidate. My testing machine is a Intel Core 2 Quad with 1GB of ram. I’ll be delivering windows 7 systems to clients in the near future if your interested contact us.

Upgrade if you dare, If you want notes on the upgrade comment and we’ll review this feature. For now we’re just doing a clean install.
Always format your drive for a clean install. I usually like to split my drive and create partitions so I can dual boot into other OS’s or for partitioning off my data. Select drive options.
Under drive options create partition’s as you see fit. Windows 7 requires about 20GB to start you should double that cause it’s a pain to resize your partitions later.
For this demo I’m actually only going to create one partition.
Away we go. I’m installing from an ISO file to a hyper-v virtual machine. Somehow it senses this and jumps the copying files section.
All done, set a username and machine ID.
The network selection screen is a little confusing. I usually go with public which is the most restrictive and then adjust the rest later.
All set nice wallpaper, its a fighting fish does that have some meaning too it? Is 7 going to kill the other fish (versions of windows) in Microsoft’s tank? Hopefully it can kill XP but that will be a tough fight. Should have no problem with Vista. :)
I missed some slides here but, you can see the new start menu and layout here now that we’re all setup.
